Description

The section of the Northeast Corridor bridging the gap between Boston and New Haven, including the MBTA Providence Line, the CTrail Shore Line East, and Amtrak Northeast Regional and Acela services.

CTRail trains enter from New Haven and stop at all stations until New London. At New London, they reverse direction and go back towards New Haven, stopping at all stations.

MBTA trains enter from Boston and make all stops until Providence. Some services continue to Wickford Junction. They reverse and return to Boston.

Amtrak trains start from Boston in the morning and make some stops before exiting to New Haven. By midday, some trains enter from New Haven and make some stops before exiting at Boston. New Haven-bound trains finish around early evening.

Morning southbound CTrail trains stop at Madison, which has a platform only on the northbound track. Pay attention to which track these trains get routed on between Old Saybrook and Guilford.

Some Amtrak trains pass MBTA trains at Attleboro. These passings may delay MBTA trains. This is expected.
