Description
The simulation area covers a large section of the West Coast Main Line from Carnforth to Kirkpatrick with the initial few miles of some branch lines (Windermere Branch, Carnforth Via Barrow in Furness, Settle & Carlisle, as well as Newcastle & Carlisle).
Goods line to the west of Carlisle to bypass the station are included although they were closed in 1984 after a runaway rake of container wagons derailed at high speed on the River Caldew bridge at Dentonholme, damaging it beyond economic repair. However, no trains are scheduled to use the bypass in the attached timetable.
Distances and line speeds are taken from the relevant parts of the National Rail’s Sectional Appendices.

A great deal of detail is provided in this map and great care needed to route trains correctly. A slow speed is recommended at busy times. Excellent railway and timetable!
